CASTING ENGINEER (Metallurgical)
Job Type: Direct Hire
Area: Ogden, UT
Salary Offering: 80-107K
SUMMARY:The Qualified Professional Technical Group has been engaged to assist our client in locating an engineer with previous Single Crystal Casting and/or Directional Solidification experience to help increase the technological expertise of the group and expand its skillset with an eye towards new product development. Responsibilities include performing design and/or design analysis duties requiring experience in the selection and application of standard engineering principles and techniques. The teammate will Work with a process team with a specialty of aerothermodynamics, structures, accessories, material engineering, production & test engineering. The qualified candidate will have primary responsibility for working in a lean manufacturing environment implementing new gas turbine engines component part designs and developing process improvements for existing designs. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Create estimated process plans, part detail designs (blueprints), manufacturing process plans, performing process development, NC programming, tool design, and working with layout specialists.
Conducts design/analysis assignments of complex products, analysis of engineering problems and development of significant criteria to support design concepts and feasibility.
Assists in development of general engineering procedures and specifications relevant to engineering assignments. Advises other Engineering & Production personnel regarding test requirements, procedures, product specifications, and the like. Assists in the evaluation of results.
Prepares layouts and/or makes calculations related to product design and analysis. May assist in preparation of engineering computer programs and evaluation of program output applicable to design assignments.
Participates in the preparation of engineering proposals by compiling or providing technical data, drawings, and the like. Prepares and submits various reports related to the assignment.
Coordinates less complex engineering projects on a technical level and may estimate costs and schedules, developing design to meet specifications and liaison with other concerned activities.
May be responsible for handling chemicals and waste, both hazardous and nonhazardous, as defined by OSHA, EPA and DOT.
Attend required training including safety, hazardous waste management, emergency response, hazard communication, and other required trainings, and demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of topics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering and an interest in gas turbine engines.
4+ years of experience.
Must be able to read and interpret part drawings.
Strong CAD skills required (PTC Creo or UG NX is a plus).
Experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, specifically single crystal and directional solidification casting, is desired.
Casting simulation experience is also desired.
Project management, capital acquisition, and tool design experience a plus.
