The Manager of Practice Innovation has a key role in expanding and selling the solutions within the Practice Innovation Department. Working closely with the Firm’s Director of Legal Service Delivery and the Company FOCUS Team (including the Director of Client Solutions & Lead Client Intake Counsel, Chief Practice Innovation Officer, Value Partners, and other staff), Business Development Team, partners, associates, and staff in the law firm, the Manager of Practice Innovation is responsible for Department material creation, articulating offerings within client pitches and proposals, project managing initiatives and events, and general coordination of the Department operations. The Manager of Practice Innovation will also work to identify opportunities for the Firm and various teams to leverage Department offerings to optimize efficiency in our service delivery.
This position will require the skills of an individual capable of facilitating planning sessions, handling data collection and analysis, implementing improvements and controls, and quickly developing a deep understanding of new offerings and technologies to educate others on such offerings. The candidate will be a motivated self-starter who has demonstrated experience as a business development manager, and strong creative, technical, organizational, and facilitation skills. The Manager of Practice Innovation reports to the Director of Legal Service Delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
General
  • Engage and communicate promptly and effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with attorneys, clients, and staff.
  • Exercise high-level organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
  • Produce work product that is clear, concise, and error-free.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of initiative and independent judgment with excellent troubleshooting, decision-making, and follow-through skills.
  • Manage workload and communicate current projects to supervisors on an ongoing basis.
  • Exercise appropriate professional judgment to ensure key stakeholders are informed of important developments on projects in a timely manner, including progress, risks, expectations, timelines, milestones, and other key project metrics.
  • Handle projects with an eye toward design thinking, project management, and process improvement
  •  Understand the intersection points between legal service delivery and the various internal teams/departments, exercising the ability to work across teams and bring together perspectives in a cohesive message.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationships with the Firm
  •  Deliver excellent customer service in response to client, lawyer, and peer requests
  •  Exemplify Firm and Department client service standards.

Practice Innovation
  • Identify and track key metrics relating to client pitches and proposals that leverage Department offerings to help inform business development strategies.
  • Plan, coordinate, develop, and implement innovative initiatives, including the FOCUS Roadshow, Innovation Day, and the Innovation Competition, with the goal of raising awareness and engagement at the firm.
  • Work with the service line leads to continue to educate on substantive, scalable offerings, including talking points and one-pagers for attorney reference.
  • Work with the service line leads and Business Development to develop/enhance template materials.
  • Tailor template materials and develop new materials specific to a given pitch/proposal.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Team to identify and develop award submission responses and external marketing/press pieces.
  • Partner with the Director of Legal Service Delivery and Business Development on the tracking and implementation of services following a win for new business or in relation to the client feedback program.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance the visibility and adoption of the Department within and outside the firm.
  • Create and manage marketing campaigns, including digital marketing, content creation, and event planning, to promote Department initiatives and new solutions/resources (including technology platforms)
  •  Analyze market trends and client feedback to adjust marketing strategies and improve offerings and services available throughout the Practice Innovation Department.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Marketing in a law firm ( required) 
  • Experience in Legal Project Management, Legal Operations, or Practice Innovation a plus
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required. J.D. or MBA a plus.
  • Legal project management, knowledge management, or marketing experience a plus.
  • Data visualization and data analysis experience.
  • Ability to work well with multiple deadlines, innovative problem solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Must be a problem solver, willing to work and think energetically and independently and to accept responsibility for producing work that is consistently complete, timely, effective, and accurate.
  • Must demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to new ideas, new approaches, and new technology tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide excellent client service
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required
  • High level interpersonal skills to facilitate communication in person, by email, and telephone with professionalism, courtesy, and diplomacy.
  • Very strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, with strong technical skills and the ability to learn new applications quickly.
