Controls Engineer
Location: Midland, Michigan
Job Type- Fulltime - Direct Hire
Our client, a well-established and respected leader in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a direct hire opportunity at their Midland, MI facility. This position offers the chance to join a collaborative team focused on engineering excellence and continuous improvement. Position Overview: The Controls Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial control systems. This individual will lead and coordinate engineering resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with company standards. Key Responsibilities:
Monitor project progress and develop strategies to meet design and performance objectives
Manage the tryout, debugging, and start-up of control systems for tools and equipment
Provide hands-on technical support for the installation and commissioning of control systems
Assist in training plant personnel on the operation and maintenance of controls and equipment
Coordinate internal and external support resources to meet project goals
Lead and mentor a medium to large team of engineers and designers throughout the project lifecycle
Travel to client or plant sites as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
Minimum of 6 years of experience in control systems engineering
Demonstrated expertise in the design, build, and installation of industrial control systems
Proficiency with programmable controls hardware and software (Rockwell Logix 5000 or comparable)
Skilled in programming and configuring human-machine interfaces (HMIs)
Experience with specialized equipment such as VFDs and servo systems
Proficient in drafting and control system design using AutoCAD and/or ePLAN
Strong knowledge of industrial safety standards and regulatory requirements
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
