SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY:Our client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work at their facility in Sterling Heights, MI. This position is responsible for requirements generation, simulation, design, development and integration of complex military combat vehicle software-based systems.  If you have at least 15 years in Software Engineering, and have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related field, we are interested in reviewing your qualifications!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Develop vehicle software
    1. Software requirements analysis, derivation, decomposition and management activities
    2. Research, simulate and analyze software solutions to evaluate system performance to meet customer requirements
    3. Perform trade studies to compare alternative approaches
    4. Develop software requirement specifications, algorithms, logic flow-charts / activity diagrams, leverage SysML Modeling and Simulation input
    5. Develop vehicle software and cybersecurity employing rapid prototyping, agile development, DevSecOps
    6. Familiarity with software life-cycle development, verification, configuration and integration tools (Git, Jira, Confluence, Kubernetes, CANoe, Matlab/Simulink, Labview)
    7. Familiarity with development and integration of drivers, apps, kernels, containers and VMs
    8. Familiarity with safety criticality
    9. Integration of military lethality, survivability and C5ISR systems
    10. Support of CPU, GPU and FPGA integration using design tools
    11. Interact with external customers and suppliers
      1. Component/Vehicle test support
        1. Understand/create test requirements for compliance with customer’s requirements and functions
        2. Create/review test plans
        3. Employ test / scan software tools
        4. Support prototype development and test
        5. Support system-integration-lab (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) activities
        6. Monitor/analyze test results
        7. Troubleshoot issues and perform corrective action
      2. Support concurrent engineering, SIL/HIL integration, procurement and prototype build/integration activities by providing technical assistance
      3. BSc Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive)
      4. 15+ years’ experience software engineering
      5. Experience with Real-Time OS (RTOS), Linux, Embedded C/C++
      6. Experience with UML/SysML Model-based SW Dev
      7. Experience with Confluence, DOORS NG, MS Office
      8. Experience with standard bus protocols (J1939 CANBus, RS422/485, 802.3 Ethernet)
      9. Experience with TCP/IP/UDP, DDS, Multicast, DisplayPort, HDMI, HD-SDI protocols
      10. Experience with x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA
      11. Working knowledge with digital, analog, power and RF electronics
      12. Understanding of vehicle power distribution systems and automotive power management. Knowledge of the fundamental functions and characteristics of Power Distribution Modules (PDMs), as well as how they integrate into automotive systems
      13. Hands on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, logic analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
      14. Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently
      15. Experience with engineering management in a highly regulated industry
      16. Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-organizational and corporate environment
      17. Experience with proposal activities, bid capture, contract negotiations and delivery planning
      18. • Currently holds or has the ability to obtain SECRET US Defense clearance
      19. • Applied working knowledge in the domain of software engineering development and systems integration, with a proven track record of product development throughout the entire product lifecycle
      20. Knowledge of Systems based design and related Standards/Processes
      21. Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders
      22. Detailed knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering and vehicle principles
      23. Must be able to communicate effectively in a variety of settings, possess the ability to explain complex concepts in a way that makes sense and be able to assimilate complex instructions easily with all levels of management and staff to establish productive relationships
      24. Superior consultation, diplomacy, influencing and negotiating skills is required
      25. Must demonstrate an enthusiasm to engage with and support overseas colleagues to ensure all staff have the information and opportunity to perform to the best of their abilities
      26. Must promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers. Must be tactful, diplomatic, and work with integrity, honesty, and respect for others.
      27. Must display exceptional listening and analytical skills in order to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to those needs
      28. Shall support and encourage performance by motivating individuals and teams to achieve high performance. Will clarify and define the goals and strategies of the organization and successfully communicate this to all. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work effectively with the US team, suppliers, customer, and corporate parent staff.
      29. High level of self-motivation and standards with the ability to multi-task; balancing "analysis" with "doing". Must be adaptable and able to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Work on own initiative
      30. Willing and able to travel internationally for technology transfer
      31. MSc Engineering desired (e.g. Electrical, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive, Management)
      32. Experience in delivering large complex US Defense programs
      33. Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements
      34. Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and acquisition
      35. Familiarity with the US Army TACOM / TARDEC / GVSC organizations
      36. Experience with military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence
      37. Experience with fire control systems, stabilization, coordinate transformation and algorithms
      38. Experience with VICTORY, FACE, GCIA & MOSA standards
      39. Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and regulations
