IT SpecialistHarrisonburg, VirginiaDirect Hire | $80,000–$85,000 The IT Specialist will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the technology infrastructure across several small businesses operating under one centralized accounting system. This role will provide hands-on technical support for approximately 100 users, ensuring reliable performance of hardware, software, network, and communication systems that support day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical expertise who can manage multiple systems, troubleshoot issues efficiently, and contribute to ongoing technological improvements. Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support for approximately 100 end users across multiple business units
Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, networks, and telecommunications systems
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
Assist with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of new IT systems and services, including software integrations and e-commerce platforms
Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, security, and reliability
Support IT infrastructure including servers, workstations, network equipment, phone systems, and data storage systems
Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement, implementation, and support
Maintain system documentation, procedures, and IT asset inventory
Ensure data security, backup procedures, and compliance with company policies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
3–5 years of hands-on experience in IT support, systems administration, or IT operations
Strong working knowledge of computer systems, networks, security, and systems administration
Experience supporting databases, data storage systems, and business applications
Familiarity with vendor coordination and software and hardware implementation
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical users
