POSITION SUMMARY
Our client has engaged QPT to locate a top notch Maintenance Controls / PLC Technician to support the reliability and performance of industrial automation equipment. This role is primarily on-premises and focused on troubleshooting, testing, and repairing PLC-controlled systems, with occasional local field service support as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Support day-to-day maintenance of automation, electrical, and control systems
  • Perform testing, debugging, and minor program modifications under engineering guidance
  • Identify root causes of recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities for control systems
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to minimize downtime
  • Provide occasional on-site field service support at nearby customer or facility locations
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports
  • Document repairs, changes, and troubleshooting activities
  • Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations
REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficiency with at least one PLC platform:
    1. Mitsubishi
    2. Allen-Bradley
    3. Siemens
  • Technical Degree &/or PLC Certification/Training preferred
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical and automation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control drawings
  • Experience troubleshooting sensors, drives, motors, HMIs, and industrial networks preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance, controls, or industrial automation
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and work effectively in a fast-paced plant setting
  • Must be willing and able to travel approximately 10% of the time (Most travel is local and same-day, occasional overnight travel, week-long travel is rare
