General Manager Plastics Manufacturing QSPTG has been engaged by our client to identify a high impact General Manager for a direct hire opportunity at their Ankeny, Iowa manufacturing facility. This role offers total compensation in the range of $180,000 to $220,000 and provides full operational ownership with strong executive visibility. The General Manager will lead plant operations, drive growth, and ensure excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and financial performance. Position OverviewThe General Manager is responsible for full value stream ownership, including profit and loss accountability, while aligning plant operations with corporate vision, mission, and strategic objectives. This role provides leadership across all operational departments and ensures consistent execution of operational excellence initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Oversee day to day plant operations across all functional areas
Lead manufacturing operations using lean principles to support business strategy
Maintain accountability for all aspects of plant performance, ensuring objectives are achieved in a cost effective manner while meeting customer, quality, and safety requirements
Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Support, coordinate, and initiate sales opportunities in partnership with the corporate sales tea
Lead, coach, and develop direct reports and cross functional teams
Interview, hire, train, and develop employees while managing performance, recognition, and corrective actions
Address employee concerns and resolve issues in alignment with human resources objectives
Measurable Accountabilities
Year over year sales and volume growth aligned with corporate strategy
Meet or exceed all financial performance metrics
Zero defects with full adherence to the quality management system
100 percent on time delivery performance
Zero OSHA recordable incidents
Year over year reduction in employee turnover until national market average is achieved
Average recruiting time to fill positions under 90 days
Maintain a highly organized facility utilizing Kanban and 5S methodologies
Qualifications for Success
Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or equivalent experience with 20 plus years of manufacturing leadership
10 to 15 years of operations management experience in a highly engineered plastic injection molding environment with plant level profit and loss responsibility
Proven people leadership experience with strong business and financial acumen
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Strong problem solving capability with data driven decision making
Demonstrated experience leading complex change and transformation initiatives Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence
